Destiny Frankenstein There was little doubt when Destiny Frankenstein began her high school softball career as a freshman at Broken Arrow that she’d be playing Division I college ball. After helping lead the Lady Tigers to four straight conference championships and State Championships in 1998 and 2001, Frankenstein took her skills to the University of Kansas. Her senior year in Lawrence she sparked the Lady Jayhawks to their first ever Big 12 conference tournament title.
She was a four-year starter at Broken Arrow and selected the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2001 for the state of Oklahoma. She was picked as one of 25 players on the Student Sports All- American first tea after batting .423 as a senior, and was named All-State and All-American as a shortstop. She holds school records for most doubles, runs and runs batted in and finished with a career batting average of .396. She’s just as proud of the fact that she was on the Honor Roll all four years in high school and a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
As a freshman shortstop at KU Destiny started all 48 games and led the team with 16 stolen bases and 124 assists. Her sophomore year she was the only member of the team to start all 61 games, leading Kansas with a .263 batting average, 17 stolen bases and several other categories. She made All-Big 12 Conference as a junior and senior, was Academic All-Big 12 her last three years and set several more school records. She went on to play for the New England Riptide in the National Professional Fastpitch League after leaving KU, helping lead the team to a national championship.
Broken Arrow High School is proud to induct Destiny Frankenstein into its Athletic Hall of Fame.
